Today we took a break from physics as we talked about turtles and ocean pollution while we needed to build a submarine for Maria to visit a turtle under water. We learnt some cool facts about turtles and also some sad facts about all the rubbish in the seas. We reenacted a tragic story of Freddy the Fish, who died in a polluted river, and then tried to clean the water again, so that other fish would survive. Doing that we learnt which pollutants were easier to remove from the water vs the others. And we even came up with a couple of ideas of our own, how we can help reduce pollution.
For our continued EQ development we made my favorite exercise of mirroring, when one child needs to mirror the emotion the other child is showing and guess it. It's so simple, yet so powerful in developing empathy. In this course we only do it once but it's such an excellent exercise that if you have a chance, you can also do it home. And we'll for sure do it again in the future courses.
